People always ask how 'Whoa, Kenny!' happened. We were in the studio cooking, and Kenny dropped a 808 pattern so filthy I literally stood up and screamed 'WHOA KENNY!' at the top of my lungs. He sampled it on the spot.
KEY! is the rapper who changed rap without caring if everyone knew he was the one who did it. His cadences in 2014-2018 became the default language of SoundCloud and mainstream trap.
When me and Key made 777, we slept on couches and ate dollar slices. We didn't chase trends or look at charts. We just wanted to make the hardest, cleanest rap tape possible.
